Experiential Learning Component

There are three specific experiential learning components in the PGDRM, besides those integrated within the class room segments. These are discussed below.

Induction segment

During this 1 week period students are exposed to the realities of environment in which rural and urban communities live through home-stay, visits and lectures by development leaders. At the end of the induction segment, students are expected to submit a report of their experience.

Understanding Organisation and Rural Action Component

During this 12 weeks period students are expected to stay with the rural/urban communities facilitated by a host organization working in that area. The student is expected to develop a deep understanding of the functioning of the organization and the local environment in which it is working. In addition, the student has to undertake a specific development action, identified by the host organization, under its supervision. At the end, student is expected to submit two reports, i.e. Understanding Organisation and the Development Action. Students can work individually or in a group of two or three on this component.

Management Traineeship

During this 11 weeks period students are expected to work under a project assigned by an organisation under the supervision of a faculty. At the end students submit a report on the problems given to the concerned organization. Depending on the nature of the problem, students can work individually or in a group of two or three on this component.
